Burning River Training Runs

2018 Familiarization Runs for the Burning River 100, 50-mile and Relay

The sections of the race will be run loosely based on the 8-person relay legs.

These are self-aided runs, so please bring water and any fuel you might need. Many of the areas of the parks do not have drinking water available so please plan accordingly. We will run together as a group. In the event there are others who know the course, we may split into smaller groups based on pace and reassemble at critical trail intersections.

CARPOOL RUNS
Sunday Mornings and Wednesday Evenings

We meet at the END point of the run, carpool to our starting point for the run and travel the course in the direction you will run it on race day.

OUT & BACK RUNS
Wednesday Evenings
We meet at the STARTING point and run out and back as these are shorter segments. In some cases we may take a more direct route back to the start. Mileage listed is for round trip. If you’d like to run only one way (50% mileage), please arrange your own carpool or pickup.

Segment 2 Polo Fields to Egbert – 15 miles
Date – Sunday, April 8, 7:30 a.m.
Format – Meet at Egbert, carpool to start of run

Segment 3Egbert to Meadows – 11.8 miles
Date – Sunday, April 15, 7:30 a.m.
Format – Meet at Meadows, carpool to start of run

Segment 4Meadows to Boston Mills – 12.4 miles
Date – Sunday, April 29, 7:30 a.m.
Format – Meet at Boston Store Overflow Lot, carpool to start of run

Segment 5Boston Mills to Ledges – 16.2 miles
Date – Sunday, May 6, 7:30 a.m.
Format – Meet at Ledges Shelter, carpool to Boston Store Overflow Lot

Segment 6 Ledges to Ledges – 13.5 miles
Date – Sunday, June 3, 7:45 a.m.
Format – Meet at Ledges Shelter, loop run
Note – You will start at Ledges, run to Pine Hollow, loop back to Ledges and end at your car

Format – Meet at Botzum Lot, carpool to start of run

Segment 8 (Part 1)Botzum Lot to Botzum Lot – 10.8 miles
Date – Wednesday, May 6, 6:15 p.m.
Format – Meet at Botzum Lot, out and back run
Note – Mileage is round trip out to Memorial Parkway and back. If you’d like to run only one way (5.4 miles), please arrange your own carpool or pickup.

Segment 8 (Part 2)Memorial Parkway to Memorial Parkway – 8.4 miles
Date – Wednesday, May 23, 6:15 p.m.
Format – Meet at Memorial Parkway trailhead, out and back run
Note – Mileage is round trip out to the Finish Line and back. If you’d like to run only one way (4.2 miles), please arrange your own carpool or pickup.
