Dirty Bird Trail Race FAQ

Dirty Bird 5k, 15k, & Baby Bird 1 Mile Kids Trail Run
Saturday, May 21st 8:00 am

Q – I’m interested in Dirty Bird, where the heck is Vulture’s Knob?
A– Dirty Bird is the 4th event in the 2016 Dirty Trail Series.  It takes place on the mountain bike trails of Vulture’s Knob.  There is nothing quite like this course anywhere else!  It is well worth the short drive to run through trails named Rock Tunnel, Fern Gully, Oh Sh#!, the Cradle, Friar Bryan’s Forest and Ant City.
Tip – Vulture’s Knob, in Wooster is a 45 minute drive from Akron.  Do it.  You won’t be sorry.

Q – I’d like a little more distance that day, can I run both races?
A – Yes!  Sign up for the Do Do Bird (pronounce it however you’d like) to run both races and save $10.
Tip – Do Do Bird Participants receive the 15k swag.

Q – Can I bring my kiddos?
A – Please do.  They will have a blast leaving their gadgets at home and getting dirty on the trails.  The Baby Bird 1 miler starts at 10:30 and is just $10.  Kids are chip timed, receive a t-shirt and pint sized medal.
Tip – Parents or older siblings are welcome to run with their kids and do not need to register for the 1 Mile.

Q – I like to run/walk, will I miss the cut off?
A – Nope!  Runners of all paces and abilities are welcome to participate and there is no cut off time for the Dirty Trail races.
Tip – You can even bring your canine friends as long as they stay on leash.

Q – What is the swag for Dirty Bird?
A – The Dirty Trail Series has you covered with a variety of creative swag!  This race offers a short sleeved tech tee for 15k participants and a cotton tee for 5k participants.  It is the first shirt of the 2016 Dirty season.
Tip – This year one race even has “Dirty Underwear“.

Q – It is May.  Will the trails be muddy?
A – Maybe.  This is Ohio after all!
Tip – We’ll include a weather forecast in the pre-race email to help you decide which shoes to wear.  This course has several bridges (including a sweet suspension bridge!!) which can be slippery when wet. It is a good idea to bring a towel and dry shoes for after the race.

Q – Is there anything to do after the race?
A – We’ll have music, snacks, an awards ceremony, and Dr. Chris from Synergy Chiropractic to care for you post race.  Since Vulture’s Knob is a mountain bike park, bring your bike and make a day of it.  Or why not check out the area?  There are some unique lunch spots and shopping in Downtown Wooster.
Tip – Pack a picnic lunch and relax on the grass while the 15k runners finish.

Q – Where can I find additional information and registration?
A – All the details including times, awards, swag, course info, pricing, and registration can be found HERE.
Tip – Sign up before May 11th, during early registration, for the best pricing.
